30 Day of HP - Day 2: My Fave Movie
My favorie movie in the franchise thus far is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. So, far, this film is the one that sticks with the novel as much as humanly possible and features my celebity crush… *blushes and sighs*
Day 19 - A Talent of Yours
I can play the instrument that you see in the picture posted to this, or I could, until my right hand injury-turned-deformity caused me to put the instrument aside. Still, it is a talent I possess, regardless of the fact that I no longer play…
30 Days of HP - Day 1: Your Fave Book
While I adore every novel in the series, my favorite is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. This novel is the transition novel in the series; Harry begins to get a clearer picture of who and what he is dealing with, he gets a brief opportunity to know his godfather, and all of the characters begin to leave their childhoods behind, as they become, quite obviously, adolescents. Yes, it is heartbreaking when Sirius Black dies, but overall, this is a fantasitc read!
In an ongoing effort to become a more disciplined writer *giggle snorts* and because I am really looking forward to the first installment of the movie depicting the seventh book, I will join a few of my friends here on Tumblr in talking about J.K. Rowling’s fantastic series.

Day 18 - Whatever Tickles My Fancy
Since whoever came up with this blog challenge gave me carte blanche to put whatever the hell I want here today, I want to say thanks to Owen Thomas for becoming on of my followers today. Owen is the frontman for one of my all-time favorite bands, The Elms. Today, he announced that after 10 years together, the band will disband at the end of next month (which, I am not gonna lie, breaks my heart and gives me the excuse to visit Indianapolis for the first time to catch their final show).
For those of you reading who are not familiar with their music, this band began as a Christian group before making the transition to creating gritty, no-nonsense, Midwestern rock ‘n roll! Basically, I have been an ardent fan since “Goodnight Rosa” emerged. So, to Owen, Chris, Thom, and Nathan, I wish all of you the very best! :)
Day 17 - A Work of Art
I am an avid fan of the Impressionists, so I turned to one of my favorite artists for today’s post, Monet. The piece I posted is his well-known “Water Lilies”. It, like most of his work, is exquisite!
Day 16 - A Song that Makes You Cry (or Nearly Cry)
Kings of Leon’s “Cold Desert” is a song that causes me to tear up everytime I hear it, which explains why I do not listen to this song unless I need that form of emotional release. A runner-up for “A Song that Makes You Cry” is “Transatlanticism,” by Death Cab for Cutie.
Day 15 - A Part of a Story, The Aeneid, by Virgil
I absolutely adore epic poetry, for it is a very beautiful and / or powerful way to tell a story. So, I thought it apropos to provide the first several lines of Book I of one of my favorite epic poems, The Aeneid.
Day 14 - A Non-Fictional Book
A friend of mine recommended that I begin reading books written by Mary Roach in an effort to reconcile and indulge the literature buff and science geek that reside within me. This book has me incredibly intrigued, so as soon as I can afford it, I will be purchasing this book, as well as the others that she has written to date! :)
Roach’s work is the first bit of science writing that I have come across that has appealed to me since I have read Richard Preston’s The Demon in the Freezer. I read that book 4 years ago, if that tells you anything about the state of engaging scientific discourse… *sighs* I am such a nerd…
Day 13 - A Fictional Book
This is the next “light reading” book I plan to read (after moving and job hunting have ceased to be a worry).
